ebay value of old gateway 500x?
I have an old Gateway 500x PC. I have upgraded the RAM from 512mb to 1gb, and installed a 256mb Radeon X850 pro and a Soundblaster audigy D880 sound card. I have also added a CD-RW and a DVD-ROM drive (2 seperate drives) and a 700 watt psu. The computer still has the original 2.4GHZ pentium 4 processor and 80GB 7200rpm Hard drive. I will include a USB keyboard and mouse and a fresh installation of Windows XP home with all the discs. What could I get on Ebay for the old thing? Would it be better to sell the parts seperately?

eBay? You’re doing it wrong. Don’t sell desktops on eBay. The shipping costs will deflate the value. Sell it on Craigslist.
And don’t expect much. You can stuff as much as you want into a Pentium 4 system. It’s still a Pentium 4. You might get $120 out of it if you’re lucky, probably less than $100. And 700w? What kind of utter absurdity is that? Massive overkill.
Nicholas, did you step out of a time warp from 2004? That video card is not worth $300. It’s worth perhaps a tenth of that. The X850 is OLD. Modern cards that sell for $65 (maybe less) will outrun it easily. It might have been top end in 2004, but today, it’s junk. If you paid that much for it any less than 6-7 years ago then you got ripped off. The X850 was $499 when it came out in late 2004. Two years after, it would’ve been worth perhaps half that much, if that. Collectors don’t give a crap about old computers unless they’re really old and collectible. An upgraded Pentium 4 doesn’t count. Don’t comment if you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, and it’s absurdly obvious that you don’t.
