hi8 camera conundrum?
Hello all,
I’ve been trying to convert my hi8 tapes to digital for sometime. The camera I bought is a Sony SCL700 Camcorder. I was led to believe I could play the tapes off of it and convert it to the computer using a Canopus digital converter box.
After spending $600 on the setup I discovered my camera won’t play my tapes. The tapes are hi8 mp. To add insult to injury, the few hi8 mp tapes that were included in the box by the person who sold it to me work perfectly.
Any thoughts / suggestions?
could you possibly mean a Samsung SCL700?? it should play Hi8 tapes as that is what it records.
All Video8 system tapes move very slow and tracking is very critical A small tracking difference between your new Samsung and your old camcorder could cause the problem. If you recorded your old tapes at slow speed, then it is unlikely they will play in any camcorder except the original. Only SP recorded tapes can interchange between players.
