is it true that every time you defrag your system or a system restore that the laser burns tracks into the hd?
When you scan your system deeply the laser goes back and forth and supposingly “as i hear” burns tracks that can only be seen with a microscope across your hard drive. This also supposingly can make your pc perform slower.
Wow. This is not the case.
Your HD is magnetic media and no laser is used. Formatting/Deleting just alters the look up table on the start of the disk to allow an over-write or covers the disk with 0′s. The data below can still be determined under close inspection.
This is why most info on HD can be recovered unless the drive is actually physically destroyed.
There is a possibility that even over-written info can be recovered from HD’s but this is a specialist area really and takes a long time!
