Microscope Problems, Please Help………………..?
I have my first semester year 12 biology exam on tuesday and I dont know how to do any microscope problems, I was wondering if anybody can tell me how to do them or direct me to a website.
Here are the types of questions I get stuck on
Q1. a specimen was viewed under a 5X ocular lens and a 8X objective lens and is 100um (sorry I cant do the fuuny u). To observe it in more detail the lenses were changed to make it appeare 10X larger. Which combo would achieve this:
a) 10X ocular, 10X objective
b) 10X ocular, 40X objective
c) 15X ocular and 25X objective
I know the answe is b, but I dont acually know how they got this.
If anyone could explain this question to me or direct me to a website that could help with any questions similar to this it would be very helpful.
If anybody knows a website it would be really helpful because there are other questions I am stuck on that I cant put on here because the involve diagrams.
All you do is multiply the magnification of each lenses by each other. For example, the first microscope has a magnification of 40, because you multiply 8 and 5. 10 times larger than that would be 400, which is created with a 10X ocular lense and a 40X objective.
