Major headache over new PC build?
I dont know much about PC’s. I wanted something mainly for gaming that would not be out of date for quite a while. I went to dino pc on the net and chose the parts myself and built this

After ordering my new pc i am now worried, Reading up people say go with the ati hd4870, or dont get vista 64. And now the i7 has just been released. Have i made a mistake?
Go down to radio shack and get you some Artic Silver 5. Insert the CPU and clean the heatsink off of all the gunk that Intel puts on it called thermal paste. Now apply just a little dab of AS5 and smear it like butter across the die of the CPU, making a good even, but thin coating. Now apply your heatsink. I have read reviews about the Antec 900 being a tight fit for newer, larger graphics cards, you might have to plug the PCIEx16 connectors into the card first and kinda fold the wires under the card while inserting the card into the PCIEx16 slot.
After you have it ready, and are ready for vista DVD, load vista DVD and make yourself 4 partitions or drives on that big 1TB hard drive make C about 60gigs and then divide up the remainder of space by 3 for D,E,F drives… This will keep your operating system fast. Now when you load games or other things, ALWAYS put them into the D,E,F drives to keep that C drive clean…
After getting your vista setup it will ask you about updates, keep updates off right now. Go ahead and get your onboard sound drivers in first. That way vista doesn’t try to insert some other driver in there for you. After you load up all your drivers for your system, then turn on the windows update. The sound thing I just mentioned is what so many people have problems with and blame the motherboard about.
I am using vista home premium x64bit also and love it… It can be your best friend or you can hate the ground it walks on, you just have to treat it right and it will be a good puppy… Feel free to email me if you have any buildup questions.
