In the Film Caste away his math seems a bit off, any correction here?
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned and this previous led me to a new revision of pie before. When he calculates his math of the area for search and rescue he places, 400x 400 times 3.14. which gives him something ridiculous. Obviously pie is for spheres and it is only for a cubic formula. Circles or spheres are inverted from squares and therefore wouldn’t pie (or what pie is trying to create be) the square or cubic amount of the base number divided by something that gives radians. Again, it brings us back to angular math where I still disagree that measuring the angle of a circle are subtle but likely much different then that of a square when measuring surface area. Radius times Radius x two times pie… is closer though you would still get a sphere as the radius’s equals a triangle times 2 and equals the internal square of the circle then pies which is still a cubic formula. unless their looking for bodies I’d have a to say new formula is needed for service area. Any takers?
