Camera pixels question.?
I have a Kodak easy share. 4 pixels, No zoom. I get great photos. Close ups are not too close and distance; forget it. But for 98% of the time, my photos are GREAT. I read that movie people use digital movie cameras with 8 pixels. And I read a wide-lense camera with 2 million pixels could take a photo of a football stadium.
There is even a normal camera on tv with 12 pixels.
With all these choices, when do you need more pixels? Microscope photos? Distant planets? Or mile-distance shots? Thanks.

It’s actually MEGAPIXELS (MP) not Pixels. So, your camera has 4 million pixels, not 4 (which probably wouldn’t be large enough to cover a zit!)…lol
My dSLR camera has just over 12 million pixels. If you think your old camera takes great photos, you should see what newer cameras or a dSLR can do!
For wide-angled images you can easily attach a wide angled lens (e.g. 14mm, 20mm) to your 35mm or dSLR.
And for long distance shots you can attach a tele or super telephoto zoom lens. Canon make the EF 1200mm f/5.6L USM. When used on a full frame camera (35mm or dSLR) you will have a field of view of 1200mm (1.2km) or if used on a dSLR with a crop factor of 1.6, you will get a focal length of 1920mm (1.9km). When this lens was originally released (1993) it retailed for around US$89,000…but, I’m sure it would be a little cheaper now, lol.
And…Nikon makes a 1200mm-1700mm lens!!! It weighs 16kg and measures 880mm in length!!!
As far as distant planets are concerned, there is the Hubble Space Telescope, which has a Wide Field/Planetary 2 camera installed (and soon to be updated by the Wide Field Camera 3). These cameras don’t seem to have a lot of megapixels…but, I really don’t know much about the technical side (you can read about them out on Wikipedia, though).
